Mitsubishi Leads Fuel-Efficiency with i-MiEV Technology

Did you ever think you'd hear the day when a production model vehicle is as efficient as 100 miles-to-the-gallon? Well, that day is here, with the Mitsubishi i EV. It doesn't run on gasoline, but according to the EPA and the Department of Energy, it's the most efficient car available today, based on their MPGe ratings.
What's MPGe? Miles per gallon gasoline equivalent, or MPGe, was introduced late in 2010 to account for the number of production model vehicles powered by alternative fuels. Basically, the EPA estimates that one gallon of fuel is equal to 33.7 kWh of electricity. Therefore, when we say the Mitsubishi i boasts an impressive 112 MPGe, it's no wonder it's the most efficient vehicle available today. And the numbers just keep on rising.
Of course, this was the kind of result Mitsubishi was working for when they introduced their MiEV technology. "We are very pleased to see that the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy have rated the 2012 Mitsubishi i as the top fuel economy leader in its annual Fuel Economy Guide, " says Yoichi Yokozawa, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America. "With 17,000 i-MiEV-based units produced for various international markets, we look forward to providing North American consumers with an exceptionally well-engineered electric vehicle that has proven itself to be reliable, safe, efficient and very affordable."1
Starting at just $21,625, the i-MiEV doesn't produce any tailpipe emissions, utilizes regenerative braking technology for the most efficient driving experience, offers three driving modes, seats four people, and is available with a number of technological features and add-ons. What more could you ask for from your 21st Century car?
